Why our chocolate is sustainably sourced to create a wholesome tasting ammonite?

Updated: May 23, 2021

The chocolate we use in our chocolate ammonites is exclusively sourced from suppliers who actively support Cocoa Horizons who work with farming communities and co-operatives in Ghana, Ivory Coast and Ecuador.

Our handcrafted ammonites are made from the finest blend of Belgian whole bean roasted chocolate with an intense cocoa body at first, freshened up with fruity notes and a beautiful complexity with hints of pleasant bitterness.

Our chocolate is exclusively sourced from suppliers who actively support Cocoa Horizons who work with farming communities and co-operatives in Ghana, Ivory Coast and Ecuador.

The Cocoa Horizons Foundation was established in 2015 by the Zurich-based Barry Callebaut Group the world’s leading manufacturer of high-quality chocolate and cocoa products who are committed to making sustainable chocolate the norm by 2025.

Cocoa Horizons is a non-profit impact driven program focused on cocoa farmer prosperity and helping build self-sustaining farming communities that protect nature and children to ensure a sustainable and traceable supply of well-fermented and sun-dried cocoa beans.

A proportion of the monies paid for the chocolate that Fossil Coast Gin buys to create the ammonite’s you buy is returned to Cocoa Horizons for farmer training, the provision of farming tools, training programmes to empower women in West Africa and ultimately helps to improve the livelihoods for the farmers and their families from cocoa farming.
