Fossil Coast Gin announces its business partnership with the Jurassic Coast Trust

Updated: Mar 26, 2021

We are pleased to announce our business partnership with the Jurassic Coast Trust, an independent charity responsible for managing the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site in Dorset and Devon.

Fossil Coast Gin is a British premium gin brand that is committed to working with the Jurassic Coast Trust to celebrate our sense of exploration and discovery of our fossil rich coastlines.

The Jurassic Coast is England’s only World Heritage Site designated in 2001 for its outstanding universal value of rocks, fossils and geological landforms. Measuring 95 miles its coastline of cliffs and beaches face the English Channel stretching from Exmouth in the west and works its way eastwards to Old Harry Rocks near Swanage. The Jurassic Coast spans 185 million years of geological history exposing rocks and fossils covering the Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Among its most famous residents was the 19th-century self-taught palaeontologist Mary Anning from Lyme Regis who helped shape our understanding of palaeontology.

Fossil Coast Gin was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic and as a ecommerce business it was especially important for us that our values and social responsibility helped to guide us in having a positive economic, social, and environmental impact on our coastal society.

“My goal as the Founder of Fossil Coast Gin is that we forge a strong bond between us, our community and customers to help all of us collectively feel more connected with the natural world.” says Wayne Munday (Founder of Fossil Coast Gin)

Our gin brands are named after fossiliferous rock types and time periods. After all they are medium that preserves the remains, impressions, or traces of any fossil once-living thing from a past.

Fossil Coast Gin's handcrafted Juniper led 40% abv London Dry Gin is named “Limestone” after the South West England's Jurassic Limestone dating back nearly 200 million years ago and rich with index fossils such as Ammonites. Our handcrafted Red Bed is a red berry led 30% abv flavoured gin named after the South West of England’s Triassic Red Beds that have given us internationally important fossils.

By becoming a business member to the Jurassic Coast Trust, we shall explore with them ways to contribute in helping to protect the Jurassic Coast its fossil riches and connect with like-minded people who enjoy exploring and travelling the natural world in a pioneering way.
